Presented by The Barn Stage Company, the 2016 Summer Series opens in July with the Tony Award-winning play, Peter And The Starcatcher! ?The final musical in the Playhouse on the Square 2015 - 2016 season is Sister Act! When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put into protective custody in a convent! The New York Times cries "when the wimples start quivering, the pinched mouths break into sunbeam smiles, and the nuns start rocking to raise the gothic rafters, all's right in the kingdom of musical comedy." Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act is filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story.

Paul Barnes, co-founder and former producing and artistic director of Minnesota's Great River Shakespeare Festival, directs a workshop production of Michael Raver's play, Fire on Babylon at The Wild Project as part of the 2016 Fresh Fruit Festival. The play features Jeffrey Hayenga (Roundabout's The Importance of Being Earnest) and playwright Raver (How We Built the Bomb) Set and Prop Design by Marc Wheeler, Costumes by Edward Ray Kiely and Lighting Design by Mike Billings.

From the pen of the legendary award-winning writing team Richard Levinson and William Link, the creators of the unsurpassable mystery series Murder She Wrote and the award-winning TV detective series Columbo, comes this classic 'whodunnit' murder mystery. 

Lauren Pritchard, originated the role of Ilse in the Off-Broadway and Broadway productions of Spring Awakening. She wrote the music and lyrics of the Off-Broadway hit, Songbird, (book by Michael Kimmel). You can hear Lauren singing on the radio with bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, Lemaitre and artists like Matt Nathanson. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces the casting for their production of Peter and the Starcatcher, the play by Rick Elice, based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, with music by Wayne Barker.

Developed by Disney, 'Peter and the Starcatcher' brings rambunctious summer fun to Barter Theatre beginning June 9.

How curious and curiouser an English children's fantasy written in 1865 for three sisters has been translated into 174 languages and never been out of print since, never once. Lewis Carroll's surreal tale 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,' usually shortened to 'Alice in Wonderland,' appears on stage at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts when Artistic Director Michael Pink and Milwaukee Ballet present their version of Alice in Wonderland, which first premiered at the Washington Ballet in 2012, With this immense production of Alice, MKE Ballet Costume Manager Mary Piering completes 32 years in the company's costume shop at 5th and National to refit the more than 120 costumes for the one weekend only performances. A visit to the shop the week of rehearsals found Piering stitching on a small headpiece, putting the finishing touches on the entire cast's wardrobe.

CT Critics Circle Awards will be presented Monday, June 1 at Hartford Stage.

The world premiere of GROUNDHOG DAY has been delayed because of the 'technical requirements' involved in the production.  Previews are now postponed until 15 July with an opening night of 16 August.

Inspired by a real Somali terrorist event, RED Soil Productions presents A Man Like You, a new play direct from Kenya by Kenyan-born playwright Silvia Cassini about who has the moral right to truth.  Yudelka Heyer directs a cast of 4, including Jenny Boote, Andrew Clarke, Jeffrey Marc, and Matthew Stannah.  Fifteen performances will be staged from July 13-31, 2016 at IATI Theater, 64 East 4th Street, in New York City's East Village.
