As we approach this historic day, please share your positive, courteous comments here. This is a time for celebration. Thank you!
A time for celebration... for who?
Genuinely. I don't understand. I am not British. Are you, Highland Guy? I thought you lived in California, which is not even part of the Commonwealth.
It's six weeks away, and I will watch with morbid interest.
As a matter of courtesy, I will try to keep my negative thoughts out of this conversation and post them somewhere else.

Since I can' t think of a positive thing about the man, I will also keep them out of this thread to be nice.

And the world yawns.

I agree but something tells me that if Prince William (and Kate) were taking the throne the reaction might be different - lol.
A guest list reflective of a modern monarchy.
A guest list reflective of no one wanting to come.

They can't even get any famous singers to perform! Even Elton John and Adele turned it down. I think many people are over the monarchy, whether here or in the UK.
Of course,Elton John was also a close friend of Diana's.
Harry will attend. Meghan will remain home with their children.

I recently read that Take That, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and the Andrea Bocelli duo with Sir Bryn Terfel will perform at the coronation concert. Sounds pretty good.

So the coronation entertainment has come down to getting two "American Idol" judges - OMG!!! I know it is more than those two but could not resist taking a "jab" at the selections.
The Royal Family, past and present, can also be proud of their military service.
Tomorrow morning, husband and I board a non-stop British Airways flight from the West Coast. Some 11 hours and 5,500 miles later, we arrive in London for the Coronation Sprinkles are predicted, but we have our rain covers and umbrellas. We first visited London in 1967 while stationed with the U.S. Navy in Scotland. This is a dream holiday for us.
Very excited to be a spectator on the sidelines for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

On Saturday May 6, my husband and I will go about our day as usual in our home in New York City. We might tune in to one of the doubtless innumerable news coverages of the event, one of those after the fact wrapups, you know it is history after all, but I've got way more important things to do.
With any luck this vile display will be the last one.
Why should anyone care? I've seen a few posts on Twitter and the family looks bored off of the their asses. Charles isn't exactly a good man. And Camilla is nothing special herself.
They can call Camilla whatever they want, but she'll always be Queen Consort, with no sovereign power, until Charles dies, then she'll be the Queen Dowager.
"I feel like it would have been a gesture of kindness/true leadership/the right thing to do, for King Charles who is estimated to be worth £1.8bn, to have perhaps used £100m of the £200m he inherited (tax free) from The Queen, to fund his coronation party.
Instead he is now worth £2bn and asking people who can barely keep the lights/heating on, to foot the bill via their taxes and pledge their allegiance to him whilst he’s riding in a golden carriage and wearing jewels from colonized nations. Baffled.
Over 14.4 million people in the UK can’t afford to eat every day. 25% of London is in poverty. 4 million children are experiencing food poverty.
Whether you’re pro or anti monarchy, I don’t understand how in the midst of a cost of living crisis, national worker strikes, soaring inflation, escalating poverty and food bank usage, that anyone would think taxing the poor for an aristo party is anything but a gauche, out of touch and quite frankly obscene display of wealth and power, during an increasingly desperate time for so many.
God save the people."
Anyone who supported this international embarrassment is willfully ignorant and incredibly obtuse, in my opinion.

I can only imagine the thoughts going through William and Harry's head yesterday knowing what this b**** did to their mother. I don't know one person who did not wish Princess Diana was still alive and being crowned Queen instead of her.
